| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, rendered three-quarter from the rear, displaying paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder and segmented plate armour. The effigy is boldly struck in high relief with characteristic short beard and curly hair beneath the laurel wreath. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait field, reading ΑΥ ΚΑ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. |
