| Reverse description | Agonistic prize crown containing two crossed palm branches and bearing an inscribed tablet, set upon a prize table flanked by two money purses; the table itself bears an inscription. Beneath the table, a prize amphora (vase) is flanked by two additional palm branches. This type commemorates the Antoneia Komodeia games held at Laodicea ad Lycum, celebrating the city's neokorate status, with the legend recording the 88th celebration of the games (ΤΟ ΠΗ). The composition is a canonical agonistic reverse type well attested for the Laodicean civic coinage under Caracalla. |
