Obverse description Diademed and draped bust of the Demos of Laodicea, bearded, facing right, rendered in the provincial Greek style typical of Phrygian civic coinage of the Antonine period. The portrait exhibits a wreath-like diadem crowning the head, with traces of drapery visible at the truncation. The encircling legend ΔΗΜΟϹ ΛΑΟΔΙΚΕΩΝ runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the personified people of Laodicea. The flan is irregular and shows characteristic surface patination of a circulated bronze provincial issue.
