Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of the emperor Valerian I facing right, depicted from a three-quarter rear perspective in the characteristic provincial style of the mid-third century AD. The radiate crown with pronounced spikes frames the imperial portrait, while the paludamentum and cuirass are rendered in low relief. A Greek legend encircles the effigy, naming the emperor with his full titulature. The flan is irregular and the surfaces are heavily patinated with a dark brown-green encrustation consistent with prolonged burial, rendering fine detail difficult to resolve.
