| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with an aegis positioned to the right of the effigy. The legend surrounds the bust in Greek characters, reading ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ ΔΑΚΙΚ, conferring upon him the titles of Imperator, Augustus, Germanicus, and Dacicus. The die work displays the characteristic provincial style of the Alexandrian mint, with bold relief modelling of the imperial portrait. The coin exhibits an attractive green patina consistent with Egyptian soil burial, with the flan showing the typical irregular edge associated with hand-struck Alexandrian bronze coinage. |
