| Reverse description | Hermes standing facing left in the field, his nude or semi-draped figure depicted in a relaxed contrapposto stance, holding a purse (marsupium) in his extended right hand and a caduceus in his left hand, the latter serving as his principal divine attribute. A small subsidiary figure is positioned to the left of the deity, a compositional element common in Alexandrian provincial bronzes of this period. The date regnal legend L ΙΔ (Year 14) appears in the field, anchoring the issue to the fourteenth year of Trajan's reign as reckoned by the Alexandrian calendar. |
