The composition celebrates imperial victory and integrates a distinctly local geographical symbol, linking the emperor's triumph to the region of Cyzicus. The reverse legend, disposed in the field and exergue, names the local strategos Alfius Modestus and the Cyzicenes, along with the river name ΑΙϹΗΠΟϹ. |
