| Obverse description | Bare-headed, laureate and bearded bust of Caracalla facing right, depicted in the Roman provincial style with characteristic youthful features. The portrait is rendered in moderate relief, typical of Ephesian civic coinage of the Severan period. The circumferential Greek legend encircles the effigy, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with hammered provincial bronze production. |

| Reverse description | A warship or imperial galley rendered in right-facing profile, its hull shown with oars below and a prominent central mast bearing a billowing sail. The prow is decorated with a curved aplustre and the stern rises with an ornamental scroll. The composition emphasises Ephesus's maritime prominence and its role as the leading city of the province of Asia, alluded to in the encircling legend below and around the vessel. |
