Obverse description Confronted busts: laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus to right, seen from the rear, facing the draped bust of Julia Domna to left. The two imperial effigies are depicted in intimate juxtaposition, a characteristic compositional device of provincial coinage of the Severan dynasty. The encircling obverse legend identifies both rulers in Greek characters.
