| Reverse description | The celebrated cult statue of Artemis Leukophryene, the principal deity of Magnesia ad Maeandrum, depicted standing facing in rigid archaistic style with arms outstretched and supports at the sides. Two small Nikai flank the goddess above, crowning her head. In the lower field, a reclining male figure representing the river god Maeandros appears to one side, while a mountain deity — tentatively identified as Amosos or Thorax — occupies the opposing side. The Greek legend of the magistrate Gratos frames the composition around the border. |
