Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, viewed from behind, rendered in the vigorous provincial style typical of Asia Minor civic coinage. The emperor's paludamentum is visible over the left shoulder, and the cuirass is depicted with detailed surface articulation. The radiate portrait conveys the imperial authority of the reigning Augustus. The Greek imperial legend encircles the bust within a beaded border.
