| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Philip I (Philip the Arab) facing right, presented from a rear three-quarter perspective, emphasising the military paludamentum and articulated cuirass. The imperial effigy is rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Sardis conventus, with bold, deeply cut relief. The encircling Greek legend is disposed around the bust, reading from upper left to right across the field. |
