| Obverse description | Laureate and cuirassed bust of Philip II facing right, presented in three-quarter frontal view, with a gorgoneion (Medusa head) prominently displayed on the cuirass. The imperial legend encircles the effigy in Greek characters. The portraiture follows the military convention of provincial bronze coinage, conveying imperial authority through the combination of the laurel wreath and armored dress. The gorgoneion on the breastplate is a distinctive apotropaic device associated with divine protection of the emperor. |
