| Obverse description | Youthful cuirassed and paludamentum-draped bust of Commodus, bare-headed, facing right, seen from the centre. The obverse legend encircles the portrait in Greek characters, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹ Λ ΑΥΡ ΚοΜΟΔΟϹ, identifying the young Caesar. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Greek style characteristic of Lydian civic coinage of the Antonine period. |
