| Reverse description | Zeus enthroned to the left, his partially draped figure seated upon an ornate throne with footstool, extending his right hand to hold a small figure of Nike and grasping a tall sceptre in his left hand. The composition reflects the canonical Zeus Nikephoros type widely employed in the civic coinage of Asia Minor. A two-line Greek inscription appears in the exergue, while the circumferential legend naming the strategos Claudius Aristeus and citing Pergamum's status as twice-neokoros (ΠΕΡΓΑΜΗΝΩΝ Β ΝΕοΚοΡΩΝ) runs around the outer border. The dotted border is visible around the periphery of the flan. |
