| Obverse description | Bare-headed half-length bust of the deified Antinous facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenic portrait style typical of provincial Antonine coinage. The youthful effigy displays characteristic features associated with Antinous — full, rounded facial contours and a softly modeled neck. The Greek legend ΗΡΩϹ ΑΝΤΙΝΟΟϹ is disposed around the bust, identifying the subject as the heroized favorite of Hadrian. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat uneven, consistent with provincial workshop production of the period. |
