Reverse description Demeter standing left, holding three ears of grain in her right hand and a long torch in her left, facing the cult statue of Kore (Persephone) set frontally between an ear of grain and a poppy; a small altar occupies the central field between the two figures. The composition reflects the prominent role of the Demeter-Kore mystery cult at Sardis, rendered in the typical Lydian provincial style. The extended Greek legend naming the local magistrate fills the field and periphery. The reverse type underscores Sardis's status as a twice-neocorate city.
