| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, portrayed in three-quarter view from the rear, with the paludamentum visible over the left shoulder and scale armour rendered in fine relief. The imperial effigy occupies the majority of the field, conveying the established military iconography of the Severan tradition. The encircling Greek legend runs along the periphery of the flan. The coin is struck on a broad, somewhat irregular flan characteristic of provincial Asiatic bronzes of the mid-third century AD. |

| Reverse description | The emperor, in military attire, is depicted on horseback galloping to the right, his right arm extended and wielding a spear directed downward toward a boar shown beneath the horse's forelegs. The composition is vigorous and dynamic, reflecting the hunting iconography common to imperial provincial coinage of the third century AD, evoking both imperial virtue and martial prowess. The reverse legend encircles the scene, asserting Ephesus's prestigious status as the first city of Asia. The exergue line separates the primary scene from the lower field, where traces of the legend are partially visible. |
