Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in three-quarter view as seen from the rear, a typical provincial presentation convention. The imperial effigy displays the characteristic youthful features of the emperor, with the paludamentum fastened at the right shoulder and the cuirass visible beneath. A circular Greek legend surrounds the portrait in the field, reading clockwise from the upper left. The flan is broad and irregular, consistent with provincial Asiatic bronze coinage of the Severan period.
