Reverse description Two standing figures in confronting composition: at left, the emperor Commodus stands facing, head turned left, clad in military paludamentum, extending a patera over a lighted altar at his side while holding a spear in his other hand; at right, a female personification of Lesbos stands left, reaching forward to crown the emperor with a wreath and holding a long sceptre in her other hand. The scene conveys the loyalty of the island koinon to the imperial cult. The reverse legend in Greek, arranged around the field, records the name of the local strategos and the issuing authority of the Koinon of Lesbos.
