| Obverse description | Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Antoninus Pius facing right, the emperor portrayed with characteristic short beard and idealized imperial features. The Greek legend encircles the effigy around the full periphery of the flan, reading from upper left. The die work is typical of Alexandrian provincial coinage of the mid-second century, combining Roman imperial iconography with local Egyptian craftsmanship. |

The composition reflects the prominent role of Isis as patron goddess of navigation and commerce in Ptolemaic and Roman Alexandria. |
