Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of the emperor Valerian I facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of Asian mint issues of the mid-third century AD. The effigy displays the characteristic cuirassed or draped shoulder treatment, with the laureate wreath clearly indicated. The encircling Greek legend runs along the outer border of the flan. The coin exhibits a heavy green and red patina consistent with its bronze composition and extended burial history.
