| Obverse description | Laureate bust of the Emperor Trajan facing right, draped and cuirassed, the paludamentum visible at the shoulder, the portrait rendered three-quarter from the rear in the characteristic Alexandrian style. The laurel wreath is rendered with fine detail atop the imperial effigy. The surrounding Greek legend is disposed around the field, partially legible on the irregular flan. The portraiture is executed in confident, deeply cut relief typical of the Alexandrian mint workshop of the early second century AD. |
