| Reverse description | Dionysus, standing and facing left, rides a biga drawn by two panthers leaping to the left. The god holds a thyrsus — the ivy-tipped staff emblematic of his cult — in his outstretched hand. The composition is dynamic, with the panthers rendered in vigorous motion, consistent with the Alexandrian workshop's Hellenistic artistic vocabulary. The regnal date legend L ΙϚ appears in the upper field, identifying this issue as struck in Year 16 of Trajan's reign. A dotted border frames the design. |
