Reverse description The goddess Cybele, the Magna Mater and patron deity of the region around Mount Sipylus, is depicted seated in a biga drawn by two lions moving to the left. She holds a patera in her outstretched right hand and rests her left arm upon a tympanum, her traditional cultic attributes. The composition reflects the strong local veneration of Cybele at Magnesia ad Sipylum, a city closely associated with her worship. The field is occupied by the magistrate's legend naming the strategos Korinthos, together with the ethnic of the Magnetes of Sipylus.
