In her extended right hand she holds a poppy-head, while her left hand grasps a tall sceptre. The composition evokes the Eleusinian mysteries and reinforces the religious syncretism linking Antinous to Iacchus on the obverse. The dedicatory legend ΓΕϹΙΟϹ ΑΝΕΘΗΚΕ ΑΔΡΑΜΥΤΗΝΟΙϹ occupies the field around the figure, recording that a certain Gessios dedicated this coin type to the people of Adramyteum. |
