Obverse description Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view typical of later Severan provincial coinage. The emperor's effigy displays a laurel wreath crowning the head, with drapery visible over the left shoulder and the cuirass rendered in relief across the chest and shoulder. The encircling Greek legend runs along the outer border of the flan. The portrait exhibits the broad, somewhat idealized facial features associated with Elagabalus's provincial coinage from the Sardis mint.
