| Reverse description | Turreted Tyche, the personification of the city of Amisus, seated left upon a throne, holding a cornucopia in her left arm symbolising civic abundance. Her right arm rests upon a rudder, the lower end of which stands upon a small head of Thalassa (the sea goddess) oriented to the left, referencing the city's maritime character. The encircling Greek legend names the free city of Amisus and records the local era date ΕΤ ϹΙΔ (year 214 of the Pontic era, corresponding to 182–184 AD). |
