Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Caracalla facing right, depicted from the rear in the characteristic three-quarter back view. The effigy displays the emperor's military dress with paludamentum visible over the cuirass, and the laureate wreath crown is rendered in detail. The peripheral Greek legend encircles the bust, identifying the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan shows the broad, slightly irregular fabric typical of provincial bronze coinage struck at Smyrna during the Severan period.
