(Translation: Emperor Caesar Titus Aelius Hadrian Antoninus Augustus Pius)
Reverse description Sarapis, the syncretic Graeco-Egyptian deity, depicted standing erect within a quadriga drawn by four horses moving to the left. The god raises his right hand in a gesture of benediction or salutation, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre. The four horses are rendered in dynamic motion with considerable detail in the manes and legs. The regnal year date L Ζ (year 7) appears in the upper field to the left of the figure. The spoke wheel of the chariot is visible beneath the horses, and a ground line defines the lower register of the composition.
