| Obverse description | Laureate, cuirassed, and paludamentum-draped bust of Antoninus Pius facing left, viewed from the rear, with the emperor's effigy rendered in the characteristic provincial style of the Alexandrian mint. The portrait conveys the full imperial regalia appropriate to the emperor's military and civilian authority. The encircling Greek legend names the emperor in his full titulature. The die-work reflects the competent but distinctly provincial engraving tradition of Roman Egypt. |
