| Obverse description | Draped bust of Faustina II facing right, her hair elaborately styled and dressed in the Antonine fashion, visible as a coiffure swept up from the nape and arranged in waves above the forehead. The portrait is rendered in the provincial Alexandrian style with broad, somewhat flattened facial features. The Greek legend ΦΑΥϹΤΙΝΑ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΗ surrounds the effigy, identifying her as Augusta. The flan is notably irregular in shape, characteristic of Alexandrian bronze coinage of this period. |
