| Reverse description | Heracles performing his Fourth Labour, the capture of the Erymanthian Boar, depicted in a dynamic composition. The youthful Heracles advances to the right, the Nemean lion skin draped over his left shoulder, carrying the live Erymanthian boar aloft upon his shoulders. To the right, King Eurystheus cowers within a partially buried storage pithos (large ceramic jar), his arms raised in a gesture of terror. The scene is rendered with characteristic Alexandrian provincial vigour, with the regnal date in the field. |
