Obverse description Draped bust of the deified Faustina I facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and swept back in the characteristic Antonine fashion. The effigy is rendered in a naturalistic provincial style typical of Cypriot civic coinage of the mid-2nd century AD. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust within a beaded border. The portrait reflects the posthumous divine honors accorded to Faustina I following her deification by Antoninus Pius after her death in AD 140/141.
