| Reverse description | The reverse field displays a five-line Greek inscription contained within a laurel wreath, naming the Roman proconsul Marcus Plancius Varus and his title as magistrate of the metropolis. The wreath is tied at the base with a ribbon and rendered with individual leaves clearly delineated. The inscription, occupying the entirety of the field within the wreath, served as a honorific dedication to the presiding Roman official, a practice common in Bithynian civic coinage of the Flavian period. |
