Reverse description The emperor Trajan, laureate and in full military dress, is depicted on horseback galloping to the right, his right arm raised and thrusting a spear forward in a dynamic martial composition. Beneath the horse, a captive figure wearing a Phrygian cap is shown prostrate or crouching, a conventional iconographic reference to Dacian or eastern subjugation. The scene is executed in the characteristic provincial style of Alexandrian bronze coinage, with bold but somewhat schematic relief. The regnal date in Greek numerals appears in the field. The reverse field is plain with no additional decorative elements beyond the primary figural group.
