| Obverse description | Laureate bust of the emperor Trajan facing left, nude, with an aegis draped over the left shoulder. The portrait is rendered in the characteristic Roman imperial style with carefully detailed laurel wreath. The Greek legend surrounds the effigy along the upper and left field. The flan is broad and slightly irregular, consistent with Alexandrian provincial coinage of the early second century AD. |
