| Reverse description | Hermes seated left upon a rocky outcrop, depicted wearing his characteristic petasus (broad-brimmed traveller's hat) and holding a caduceus, the herald's staff entwined with serpents, in his left hand. The god is shown in a relaxed, slightly forward-leaning posture typical of provincial bronze iconography. The Greek civic legend naming the strategos and the ethnic of Miletopolis is distributed around the field and in two lines in the lower exergual area. |
