| Obverse description | Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Septimius Severus facing right, rendered with a bearded portrait in the characteristic style of the emperor's Bithynian provincial coinage. The radiate crown, composed of pointed rays, frames the imperial effigy prominently within the field. A circular Greek legend surrounds the bust, reading from left to right along the periphery of the flan. The portrait exhibits bold, high-relief engraving typical of Nicomedian civic bronze issues of the Severan period. |

| Reverse description | A large war galley or merchant vessel under full sail, depicted sailing to the left across the field, with a clearly rendered mast, billowing sail with diagonal rigging lines, and a multi-oared hull. The prow terminates in a ram at the waterline, and the stern curves upward. A small circular element, possibly a shield or medallion, appears at the lower left. The encircling Greek legend referencing the city's twice-neocorate status frames the design, underscoring Nicomedia's religious and civic prestige within the province of Bithynia. |
