Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Caracalla facing right, seen from the rear, with the radiate crown clearly visible above curled hair. The emperor's effigy is rendered in the typical provincial style of Pontic civic coinage, with the paludamentum fastened at the shoulder and the cuirass detailed beneath. The obverse legend ΑΥ Κ Μ ΑΥΡ ΑΝΤΩΝΙΝΟϹ surrounds the bust within a dotted border, identifying the emperor as Augustus Caesar Marcus Aurelius Antoninus. The portrait displays the characteristic youthful features attributed to Caracalla in his earlier co-regency coinage.
