Reverse description The personification of Elpis (Hope) stands facing left in the field, rendered in full figure dressed in a long chiton and himation. She raises her right hand to lift the hem of her garment and extends her left arm forward holding a flower, conforming to the standard iconographic type of Elpis on Alexandrian coinage. The regnal date formula L Δ (Year 4) flanks the figure in the left and right fields respectively, a hallmark of Alexandrian provincial dating practice.
