Obverse description Youthful bare-headed bust of Commodus as Caesar, draped in cuirass and paludamentum, facing right and viewed from the rear, presented in the provincial Greek idiom typical of Pergamene civic coinage. The portrait conveys the subject's adolescent features with restrained modelling consistent with issues struck during his co-regency under Marcus Aurelius. The surrounding legend identifies him by his imperial title. The flan is of good fabric, characteristic of the Pergamum mint in the Antonine period.
