Obverse description Laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Hadrian facing right, portrayed from the rear in three-quarter view, as was characteristic of Alexandrian civic coinage. The effigy displays the emperor's characteristic short beard and features associated with his official portraiture. The encircling Greek legend identifies the emperor by his full titulature. The flan is irregular and somewhat worn, consistent with circulation in the Alexandrian provincial series.

Reverse description Confronted busts of the principal Alexandrian deities: to the right, a draped bust of Isis facing right, her head crowned with a taenia surmounted by a solar disc flanked by cow horns; to the left, a draped bust of Sarapis facing left, wearing the characteristic kalathos (modius) adorned with a laurel wreath. The pairing of these two deities on a single reverse type reflects the syncretic religious environment of Roman Alexandria. The regnal date legend appears in the field.
