| Reverse description | Zeus, depicted as a semi-reclining figure facing left, reposed upon the back of a large eagle with wings spread wide across the field. The god holds a patera in his outstretched right hand and a long sceptre in his left, conveying divine authority in a syncretic Alexandrian iconographic tradition. The eagle's feathering is rendered with fine detail, its body occupying the lower half of the die. The regnal date legend appears in the field, recording the nineteenth year of Hadrian's reign in Egypt. |
