| Obverse description | Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of the Emperor Gordian III facing right, depicted in three-quarter view from the front, with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder. The imperial effigy is rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Pamphylian civic coinage of the mid-third century AD. The encircling Greek legend identifies the emperor by his imperial titulature. The flan shows natural casting irregularities consistent with provincial bronze production. |
