| Additional information |
Parium, a Roman colony on the Propontis with roots stretching back to a Greek foundation, retained the right to strike bronze civic coinage well into the Severan period — a privilege that reflected the city's administrative standing within the conventus of Adramyteum. The abbreviation C G I H PAR in the coin's legend expands to Colonia Gemella Iulia Hadriana Pariana, the full titular honorifics accumulated by the city across successive imperial patronages, from Julius Caesar's original colonization through Hadrian's later benefactions.
The dating to 188–190 places this issue in the final turbulent years of Commodus's reign, before his assassination in December 192.
