| Reverse description | Youthful Dionysus stands facing, his head turned to the right, raising one hand to rest upon his own head while being supported by a Satyr at his side, a composition suggestive of the god's characteristic association with ecstatic intoxication. To the left, a panther leaps to the left with its head turned back to the right, a standard Dionysiac attribute in provincial Greek coinage iconography. The reverse legend, arranged around the field, records the name and first archonship of the local magistrate Claudius Tatianus, together with the ethnic of the Aezanitans. |
