Reverse description Asclepius, god of medicine, seated to the left on a throne or rock, his body draped, extending his right hand forward holding a patera from which he feeds a coiled serpent rising before him, while his left hand rests on a knotted serpent-entwined staff. The composition occupies the central field, with the dedicatory Greek legend distributed around the periphery, commemorating the civic physician Attalos who dedicated the type to the youth of Heraclea Salbace.
