| Reverse description | Nike, the goddess of Victory, stands facing left in flowing drapery, extending her right hand to crown a trophy with a wreath while holding a palm branch in her lowered left hand. The trophy, composed of captured arms and armour, symbolises the Roman triumph over Dacia. The reverse legend ΝΕΙΚΗ ϹΕΒΑϹΤΟΥ ΔΑΚ appears in the exergue, explicitly attributing the victory to the Augustus over the Dacians. The composition celebrates Trajan's Dacian Wars and is characteristic of the commemorative provincial bronze coinage issued by the Bithynian koinon. |
