| Reverse description | Standing figure of Zeus Syrgastes, a local Bithynian deity, depicted facing left and clad in chiton and himation. In his extended right hand he holds a patera, while his left arm rests upon a tall sceptre. At his feet to the right stands an eagle also facing right, serving as the divine attribute of Zeus. The composition is typical of the Hellenistic-influenced civic reverse types produced at Tium, combining elements of the canonical Zeus iconography with the epithet of a regional cult figure venerated in the territory of the Tianoi. |
